# Feature of Interest ## Overview The Feature of Interest item is used to share important locations. This focusses on the map field, and allows a feature to be identified on the map and named. A map layer for features of interest can be enabled on any map, plus a counter allows for listing all features of interest. To configure an Feature of Interest item, you must add or edit an Information item via the Information register and select the *Feature of Interest* [Type](#type).

Unlock the Feature of Interest settings by setting the Information's Type under General

This is used to identify it in lists and to give other personnel a summary of what it is about. Use the **Details,** a [rich text](https://docs.cw.crisisworks.com/concepts-and-fundamentals/on-a-computer/using-the-datagrid/editing-items#rich-text-fields) field, to convey the information in further detail. To upload one or more files, **use the Attachments** [file upload](https://docs.cw.crisisworks.com/concepts-and-fundamentals/on-a-computer/using-the-datagrid/editing-items#attaching-files) field. The [Location & Map](https://docs.cw.crisisworks.com/modules/operations/information/..#location-and-map) section is used to mark the feature on the map. Make sure to Save your item once you've finished to effect your changes.
