## **Online Training Sessions Guide**

If your emergency role involves multiple responsibilities, it's important to undergo training for all relevant areas. For example, as an Emergency Management Officer involved in emergency activations, you should attend sessions for the following roles:

* MEMO
* MRM
* MSIA
* ERC
* Recovery Officer and Recovery Manager

For those involved in fire prevention, it is also recommended to complete the MFPO courses.

## Training and Testing

Crisisworks has the flexibility to engage with the platform outside real emergencies, enabling users to:

* Train staff
* Conduct exercises
* Test processes
* Experiment with workflows

The platform allows the creation of **Test Events**, which function like standard events but are clearly marked as \*\***TEST\*\*** in communications and audit logs. Participation is limited to users who actively join the event and go on duty, ensuring exercises do not interfere with normal operations.

#### Benefits of Test Events

* Staff training sessions and ongoing use
  * Helps confirm staff can **sign in, receive alerts, and perform their duties**
  * Allows users to **practice their roles and permissions**
* Scenario-based simulations
* Testing new features or functionality
* Experimenting with processes or workflows
* Demonstrates organisational preparedness for audits or reviews

#### Creating Test Events

1. **Create a New Event**\
   Select the appropriate event Template, eg. *Emergency Sample*, *Fire Prevention*, *Single House Fire, Local Incident.*\
   Select the **Test Only** Category. This ensures all system notifications are marked as test messages.
2. **Name the event clearly**\
   Include wording such as **“Training”, “Simulation” or “Test”** in the title and include a date to indicate if it's an ongoing test event, or a one day exercise.
3. **Add a description**\
   Record the purpose of the event, for example:
   * Staff training
   * Simulation exercise
   * System testing
4. **Join the event and go on duty**\
   Participants can sign in using their relevant **positions or roles**.\
   Exercises should also include use of the **mobile app** for field-based testing.
