## Overview <a href="#overview" id="overview"></a>

You can add/or update [Expertise](broken://pages/U3jQIUBfnzUpuOpCleAR) in bulk using the Expertise Import option.

Note that this import requires you to link each Expertise item to a Contact.

Refer to the register page for general instructions:

{% content-ref url="/pages/QP6MVwI3qEAEvatbmPc3" %}
[Imports](/system-administration/configuring-the-system/imports.md)
{% endcontent-ref %}

### Considerations <a href="#instructions" id="instructions"></a>

When importing Expertise:

* Link each Expertise item to a Contact via a Contact ID.
* Use existing categories from the [Lookup](/system-administration/configuring-the-system/lookups.md) for **Expertise Category** and its subcategories **Area of Expertise and Area** of **Expertise (other)** as well as the **Level of Proficiency**. Categories not matched are not added.

## Import File <a href="#instructions" id="instructions"></a>
