{% endcontent-ref %}

Log Entries are a [Type](https://docs.cw.crisisworks.com/modules/operations/logs/..#type) of Log you can use to record textual information typically associated with a person's account of a situation. It functions like a digital version of a log book or diary.

For example if you need to record situations such as:

* Leaving Operations to attend meeting
* Spoke to someone about needing more desks in the room
* Distributed situation report to staff

{% hint style="info" %}
Note that Log Entries are intended to be shared with the whole team and while they can be edited, the original log is retained in the audit trail.
{% endhint %}

For general instructions on managing Logs refer to [Logs](https://docs.cw.crisisworks.com/modules/operations/logs).

Log Entry is the default Type for Logs. There is no need to change this setting in the Log to use it.
